About
Pete Law
Pete Law attended Florida
State University and Emory University School of Law. Upon graduation, Pete
went to work for a large insurance defense law firm and gained extensive experience
defending insurance companies, trucking companies, automobile defendants
and retail business establishments for both injury and business tort cases.
Within three years, Pete fulfilled his dream of opening his own law firm,
dedicated to representing individuals injured due to the negligence of
others. Although starting the practice with no cases, Pete rapidly built
his law firm based upon referrals from other attorneys and within twelve
months was co-counsel in a two-week jury trial that resulted in a
multi-million dollar recovery.
The firm currently has a
variety of select catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, but remains
able to assist people with smaller claims in virtually all areas of civil
litigation. Most recently, Pete tried a jury trial involving racial
profiling which resulted in a record setting verdict, which is believed to
be the largest such verdict in a racial profiling case in Georgia history –
over $3,002,000.00.
In addition to trying cases,
Pete regularly speaks at Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars required
for all Georgia attorneys. The most recent seminars include punitive
damages, demonstrative evidence at trial, trial advocacy, brain injuries,
negligent security, closing arguments and tractor-trailer liability.
In addition to trials and
seminars, Pete has practiced extensively in the appellate and federal
courts within Georgia. Recently, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. v. Johnson,
A0082439 (3/14/01) was decided by the Georgia Court of Appeals regarding a
$155,000.00 compensatory verdict and $250,000.00 punitive damage award in
favor of a single woman who was falsely arrested and prosecuted at Wal-Mart
Stores.
Professional memberships
include the Georgia Bar, The American Trial Lawyers Association, The
Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, The Lawyers Club of Atlanta, and The
American Bar Association. In addition to being admitted to the trial and
appellate courts of the State of Georgia, Pete is admitted to practice in
the Eleventh Circuit United States Court of Appeals and the United States
District Courts for the Northern District of Georgia and Middle District of
Georgia.
